If you’re a child of the 70s or 80s, then you remember playing endless hours of Pacman and Mrs. Pacman at the arcade. And I bet that you can still sing that music that comes in between levels! When it came time to make the medal of fellow Fiesta Medal Maniac Tony Infante, we decided to draw on those days-gone-past.
Both Tony and I were inspired by then Councilman Diego Bernal’s Mariachi Mario Fiesta Medal from 2014. So over a couple of pints at The Pig Pen off of Pershing and Broadway, we started thinking of other old-school video games that we “Fiesta-ize.” It was there that we came up with the idea of the Taco Pacman Fiesta Medal!
Like the video game, little ghosts are giving chase but Pacman must eat tacos to complete the level instead of pellets. And instead of cherries, strawberries and apples, we threw in a chile pepper in the game for bonus points! This will be the Fiesta Medal that all 8-bit gamers will be after!

A dollar from every Taco Pacman medal will be donated to the Southwest Voter Registration Education Project, a charity founded by San Antonio’s own Willy Velasquez and one dear to Tony’s heart.
“This organization’s mission is to empower Latinos and other minorities by increasing their participation in the American democratic process,” Tony told me. “The motto: Su Voto Es Su Voz (Your Vote is Your Voice), is the reason why I have picked this program. Everyone, no matter what side of the aisle you sit on, needs to be able to vote and express their views about our country. As long as everyone is engaged in local or national politics, we will be able to move forward as a country.”
