Are you ready for some football? Seems like all of San Antonio is abuzz with the first UTSA football game taking place this Saturday at the Alamodome. Kickoff is at 1:00PM and if you haven’t got parking, you’re out of luck for any of the lots immediately adjacent to the ‘Dome. Never fear, there are plenty of options throughout downtown or you can take the park and ride. Even though I didn’t attend UTSA, I got my roadrunners shirt and am ready to get rowdy! On to the Quick Bites!
- Looking for the perfect queso to accompany either your tailgate party or weekend game watching at home? Check out my mom’s famous queso made with Hatch Green Chiles! Nothing says football and autumn to me more than my mom’s queso.
- The food truck craze continues to spread across San Antonio. StrEAT Food offers the latest venue you can satisfy your mobile culinary desires at 8123 Broadway by Revolution Room every Wednesday night from dinnertime until they sell out.
- Whataburger released their Green Chile Double this past week, which boasts two patties, two cheeses, and a healthy does of green chiles. While it is not too spicy (heck, it is no Blake’s Lotaburger with green chile), the burger does get a good smokey flavor from the chiles and has the right amount of grease. It is another “limited time offer” so be sure to try it before it’s gone.
- September is Hunger Action Month and the SA Food Bank is having a campaign called SA Goes Orange. Be sure to check out their Events Page where you can easily donate money to the cause by doing everyday activities. For example, Order Up will donate 15% of your ticket if you write San Antonio Food Bank on the back of the receipt. Earl Abel’s will give you $2 off your entrée and donate $1 to the SA Food Bank!
