Hello SA Flavor readers! My name is Stephanie, but you can call me Steph (that’s what my friends call me) and I am going to be interning with SA Flavor this semester. You will see me posting very soon about different restaurants, food, events and my internship experience, so I wanted to introduce myself.
I was born and raised in San Antonio and I love living here. I travel throughout Texas for my job and I honestly think that San Antonio fits my personality better than anywhere else in our big ol’ state. The city combines the close-knit feel of a small town (because even though over one million people live here, I still somehow seem to run into people I know anywhere I go) and the benefits of a large city, including the food! Also, the Spurs are here and well, that’s basically enough for me.
So why did I decide to get an internship and why at SA Flavor? I am getting my M.A. in Communication Arts at the University of the Incarnate Word, the same place where I received my B.A. in Communication Arts with a concentration in journalism. This semester I am taking a class that requires an internship. When brainstorming ideas, I thought it may be interesting to contact a food blog because I love to write, I am always looking for great food and I enjoy reading blogs. SA Flavor combined all of these things, as well as my love for San Antonio. It seems like the perfect fit for my internship and I was very happy that Garrett agreed to have me as an intern.
Unfortunately, I am not a good cook (I tend to burn everything, or burn myself, or both), but I sure do LOVE a good meal and I really appreciate trying new places. I’m a huge fan of Asian food, Mediterranean food, BBQ, anything with guacamole, food trucks, and… well, basically everything else. I will try almost anything once and can’t tell you the number of times I have ate at amazing restaurants because a friend told me good things about it. I hope that this semester, in some way, I can be that “friend” to you.
I will be writing weekly blog posts about some of my favorite food in San Antonio. Since I travel some for work, I may throw in some posts with tips about good restaurants to eat at in other parts of state as well that I hope you enjoy!
PS: I forgot to mention I am also a huge fan of pizza, corn dogs, cupcakes, a good sandwich, cheese…
