Dorćol Distilling Company, one of the newer San Antonio based distilleries, showed off their apricot rakia in the tasting room of the San Antonio Cocktail Conference. Distilled from 100% apricots and bottled at 84 proof, rakia is a popular liquor over in Eastern Europe. “The whole idea of a rakia is to try to capture the essence and aroma of the original ingredient,” Mobley said. I enjoyed the fruit forward spirit and think it would cause an interesting twist on some of the classic cocktails. The Dorćol rakia is available under the Kinsman name and can be found in many San Antonio liquor stores.
