For this week’s ice cream review, I asked San Antonio Jane to pick up a carton of her favorite ice cream at the store. She is a big fan of a toffee ice cream at Costco, but since she wasn’t close to one, she stopped in Wal-Mart to pick up a Great Value branded Toffee Crunch ice cream. This actually worked out to my advantage because after spending money on flood insurance and a new roof, I could use a more affordable ice cream.
This ice cream had an abundant swirl of caramel throughout the carton. I was surprised by the amount of chocolate covered toffee chunks – I had assumed that because it was a discount ice cream that they might have skimped out on the candy, but there was plenty to go around. I loved the texture and enjoyed the crunch of the toffee as I ate the ice cream.
While I had enjoyed getting to try the Green Tea and Jalapeño flavors the previous couple of weeks, it was good to get back to the basics of ice cream, candy and chocolate. The Great Value Toffee Crunch is an excellent choice if you are looking for a good “non funky” ice cream without breaking the bank. What do you think I should try next week? Let me know in the comments.
